96% of Saudi university patents registered abroad and its budget from the state

The CEO of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Al-Suwailem, revealed that a Saudi university has 4% of its intellectual property registered inside, while 96% of its intellectual property and patents are registered in countries outside the Kingdom. Although the universities’ budget is 100% funded by the state, he stressed that the Kingdom is the priority for these achievements.

Dr. Al-Suwailem described in the program “In Public” broadcast on Saudi Channel One this evening, those who practice intellectual property violations by bandits, stressing that the Kingdom’s interest in intellectual property extends deep into history.

He also noted the Kingdom’s superiority in protecting intellectual property over the past few years, as the Kingdom jumped 20 positions globally after the establishment of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property.
