Celina Lourenço Ferreira was 72 years old and had been hospitalized in a hospital in São Paulo for about two weeks. She died from complications caused by Covid-19.
Atlético-MG coach “El Turco” Mohamed, after the match, made only one statement at the press conference and asked not to answer questions about the game. “I appreciate the efforts of the players, but Mariano’s mother died and, out of respect, this is not the time to talk about the game. Afterwards, I will answer the questions”, he commented.
Opponent of Atlético-MG, Flamengo also spoke about the death of Mariano’s mother. “Clube de Regatas do Flamengo offers solidarity to Atlético full-back Mariano. Celina Lourenço Ferreira, 72, the athlete’s mother, died during last Wednesday’s game. We wish the full-back and family strength in this difficult time.”
