Atlético-MG almost got a scare from Santos on Wednesday night. Playing at home, the team trailed 1-0 until the 24th minute of the second half, when midfielder Nacho Fernández, who came off the bench, started the turnaround.
”It was a difficult and special match. I started on the bench, but entered the second half. The most important thing is that we win. The merit belongs to the team that didn’t lose patience when they were behind and we were able to turn around,” analyzed the player in an interview with Sportv off the lawn.
Galo’s first goal was scored by Nacho in a penalty kick. In the second, the Argentine fouled Nathan Silva, who turned the game around. Then, in another penalty kick, this time goalkeeper João Paulo saved Nacho’s shot, who headed into the net taking advantage of the rebound.
With the victory by 3-1, Atlético-MG continues to lead the Brasileirão with 56 points, 11 more than second-placed Flamengo. In the next round, the team faces Atlético-GO, away from home, this Sunday.
