At least 40 killed, hundreds injured in train collision in southern Pakistan

At least 40 people have died and hundreds more have been injured after two express trains collided in Southern Pakistan on Monday morning.

The incident, which took place in the Ghotki District of Sindh, occurred when a passenger train heading towards Punjab collapsed and collided with another train which was heading the opposite direction.

It is understood over a thousand passengers have been caught up in the accident.

Authorities say up to 20 people are still trapped in the wreckage, which destroyed up to eight wagons.
