Where have the candidates of the National Rally (RN) gone? In certain streets of Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme), Marine Le Pen is the only one represented on the posters of her party’s contenders in the departmental elections. In half of the 31 cantons of the department, the Lepenists vying for the ballot on June 20 and 27 do not show up with their faces uncovered.
Their opponents have a good time mocking these invisible candidates. “I face Marine Le Pen”, ironically, in Cébazat, the candidate mayor (UDI) Flavien Neuvy, who immediately used it as a campaign counter-argument: “How can people vote for puppet candidates?”
All in its desire to present a maximum of its support to the departmental – 3,254 candidates, a record compared to other political parties – the RN has promised the utmost discretion to some of them.
