The complication of relations with Germany will be the worst consequence of the completion of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline for the United States. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“The worst possible outcome, from our point of view: the construction of the pipeline is completed, relations with Germany are poisoned, there is no incentive for Germany to sit down at the negotiating table,” he said.
In his opinion, negotiations will be necessary in order to “achieve success in work” to mitigate the serious negative consequences of the launch of a gas pipeline from Russia to Germany.
In addition, the head of the State Department believes that Washington must make sure that Russia cannot use gas and energy to coerce European states.
