The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced, on Tuesday evening, that 77,359 cases and 2,966 new deaths have been recorded from the Coronavirus, which causes the “Covid-19” infection, in a sharp rise for both indicators.
The Ministry stated, in a daily statistics, that the number of registered infections with Coronavirus “Covid-19” in the country during the past 24 hours increased by 77359, bringing the total number to 14.86 million cases.
This outcome represents a significant increase in the new infections index compared to recent past days, as it reached 66,964 cases on May 1, 28,935 on May 2, and 24619 on May 3.
The ministry stated that it had detected 2,966 new deaths caused by the disease, bringing the death toll from the pandemic in the country to 4,11588 people, while the lethality rate reached 2.8%.
The index of new deaths with “Covid-19” infection registered a sharp jump after it reached on May 1, to 2,656 cases, on May 2, 1202, and on May 3, 983.
Brazil recorded the second largest death toll from the virus in the world after the United States, and the third highest number of infections after the United States and India, and in recent weeks it is facing sharp increases for both indicators.
However, the health authorities confirmed that the official statistics may differ significantly from the real numbers, because the tests did not include all the injured.
The World Health Organization warned of the “dangerously” increasing rates of the Corona virus in Brazil, and urged all Brazilians to adhere to preventive measures to stop its spread.
