Chinese propaganda shines light on ‘very big gulf’ between narrative and reality
China’s ongoing propaganda campaign on the Uyghurs shines a light on the “very big gulf” between the Communist Party’s distorted narrative about Xinjiang and what external researchers have uncovered.
The ANU’s Michael Clarke told Sky News the Chinese embassy’s recent press conference to downplay reports of genocide against Uyghurs will be “counterproductive” over time.
“It simply shines a light on the very big gulf between the party state’s assessment or narrative about Xinjiang and what external researchers and observers have identified really over the last two-to-three years about what is actually occurring,” he said.
