On Tuesday (13), the Federal Police are executing 33 search and seizure warrants to advance an investigation into crimes of corruption and money laundering in the city of Petrolina.
One of the targets is the headquarters of the executive of the city of Pernambuco, which is commanded by Miguel Coelho, son of the leader of the government of Jair Bolsonaro in the Senate, Fernando Bezerra Coelho.
Coelho is not the target of the action, but his direct advisers received a visit from the PF.
The investigation aims at possible irregularities in the purchase of a school kit by the city’s education department, between 2015 and 2020, with funds from Fundeb.
Contracts under suspicion total about R $ 20 million.
An audit by the Office of the Comptroller-General of the Union raised indications of fraud in bidding with the use of shell companies in the name of oranges.
