Climate change: China will play a very important role in reducing our challenges

President of the 26th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference Alok Sharma announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping has not yet confirmed whether he will attend the conference, which will be held later this year in the Scottish city of Glasgow.

Sharma said – in statements reported by the British newspaper “The Independent” – that China will play a very important role in any agreement or move to reduce the challenges of climate change in the world.

Sharma added that he is “very optimistic” that China will send a negotiating team to the climate change talks, stressing that this is vital in reaching any sustainable agreement on the climate change crisis.

It is worth noting that the twenty-sixth session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference arouses the interest of many world leaders because of its paramount importance towards changing the world’s orientation regarding greenhouse gas emissions and the global warming crisis, and its activities are scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 12 .
