Deputies denounced tax agreement between Russia and the Netherlands

State Duma deputies denounced the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation and the government of the Netherlands on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income and property.

This bill was introduced by the government. Now, if the Russian side sends a notice of denunciation of the agreement by June 30, 2021, it will expire from January 1, 2022.

Prior to that, Russia held several rounds of negotiations with the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands to amend the agreement in terms of increasing the withholding tax to 15 percent on dividends and interest.

As a result, conditions were proposed, similar to those agreed with Cyprus, Malta and Luxembourg. However, the negotiations were unsuccessful.
