ABU DHABI, 14th January / WAM / The first day of the ninth edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy International Show Jumping Championship witnessed the participation of 120 male and female riders in five different categories hosted by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
The tournament is organized by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation “Mother of the Nation”, and in accordance with the directives of Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazaa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and President of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and Al Ain Ladies Club.
230 male and female riders representing more than 20 countries will participate in the competition, which includes 18 different competitions, with a total prize of 658,000 dirhams.
The competitions of the first race categories represented the CSIYH1 class for young horses, which consisted of one round against time on a track that includes 11 obstacles, 125 cm high for 6-year-old horses and 130 cm high for 7-year-old horses. In one attempt against time, the Syrian jockey Firas Hamama won the first place on the horse Family Du Park with a time of 67.19 seconds, while the two Emirati jockeys, Nasser Khamis, on horse “Loki”, and Saif Thabet on horse “Kalou” took the second and third places, respectively.
The young Emirati jockey, Mabkhout Al-Karbi, excelled in the CSICh-A category for children’s riders, which witnessed 19 participation, which included one round against time on a track of 11 obstacles, heights of 110 and 115 cm. A time of 54.21 seconds, before he also achieved second place in the second attempt with the horse “Air Ukrain” with a time of 57.94 seconds, while the Syrian jockey Sabri Badenki achieved third place with a time of 60.64 seconds on his horse “Shaco Prince”.
The CSIJ-A category for young riders witnessed 16 participations, in which the young riders fought a track consisting of 11 hurdles with a height of 125 cm, including two complex hurdles in one round against time. “Coral Beach Z” ranked first with a time of 57.71 seconds, while the two Syrian riders, Laith Gharib, on his horse “Edelofes de Maubry”, and Yasser Al-Masry, on horse “Fleur de Lee”, ranked second and third, respectively.
In the first women’s competition, CSIL2* category, in one round against time, which witnessed the participation of 35 knights, in which the contestants competed in the 525-meter-long track, consisting of 11 obstacles, 120 cm high. With a time of 64.66 seconds, Princess Al-Jawhara Al Saud of Saudi Arabia came in second on her horse “Granger Coebas” with a time of 70.80 seconds, while British jockey Holly Ann Coward on horse “Conor McCloud” came in third with a time of 70.94 seconds. .
The competitions of the first day were concluded with the establishment of the CSIL2 class race* with the participation of 22 jockeys in the special competition consisting of two stages, on a track consisting of hurdles with a height of 140 cm, seven of them in the first stage and five in the second stage.
