Egypt: We support efforts to achieve a comprehensive settlement in Libya

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed that his country supports all efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive settlement of the situation in Libya, as stipulated in the political road map approved by the Libyans and the Security Council.

Ahmed Hafez, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, said that Shoukry met at the beginning of his current visit to New York with the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed El Manfi, and during the meeting, he renewed Egypt’s full support for everything that achieves the interests of the Libyan people, stabilizes Libya and achieves development in its various regions.

He also affirmed Egypt’s keenness to move forward in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and building on the momentum witnessed by them, especially in light of the mutual visits between the two sides, and what was agreed upon on the sidelines of the work of the Egyptian-Libyan Joint Higher Committee, which concluded its work last week in Cairo.

Shoukry stressed Egypt’s support for all efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive settlement of the situation in Libya as stipulated in the political road map approved by the Libyans and Security Council Resolution 2570, ending holding presidential and parliamentary elections on schedule, praising the efforts of the Libyan House of Representatives in preparing the election law as a step Important towards completing the roadmap.
