eighth OM recruit this summer, Veretout signs for three years (official)

The 29-year-old French international midfielder is making his return to Ligue 1 after wearing the colors of Nantes (his training club) and Saint-Etienne.

It was expected, it’s official. After Nantes, Aston Villa, Saint-Etienne and Fiorentina, Jordan Veretout leaves AS Rome for Olympique de Marseille. The 29-year-old tricolor international midfielder (5 caps) is transferred for three seasons to the Vélodrome, despite opposition from some OM fans. There is talk here and there of a transaction at 11 M€, plus 4.5 M€ in the form of bonuses.

Veretout is the seventh Marseille recruit this summer after Luis Suárez, Jonathan Clauss, Isaak Touré, Chancel Mbemba, Nuno Tavares and Rubén Blanco. The eighth considering that Samuel Gigot is a newcomer, he who was transferred last January before being loaned for the end of the season to Spartak Moscow, a club where he was already playing. The Marseille club, vice-champion of France and therefore qualified for the next Champions League, also retained French international midfielder (6 caps, 1 goal) Mattéo Guendouzi, on loan from Arsenal in 2021-22.
