Erdogan offered to organize a meeting between Putin and Zelensky in Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin to meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in Turkey. He stated this on August 6 to the TRT television channel.

“I reminded respected Putin that we are ready to become a platform for his negotiations with Zelensky. We will continue dialogue with our Black Sea neighbor Russia in all areas to contribute to regional and global peace,” Erdogan said.

The head of Turkey expressed confidence that the conflict in Ukraine can only be ended through diplomacy, for which Ankara has already taken its step by becoming a participant in the grain deal.

“Now it is important to fully implement the grain export plan and back it up with concrete steps to return to the Istanbul talks. I have been saying from the very beginning of the conflict that there can be no winners in the war in Ukraine. Despite the difficulties in the “field”, I am deeply convinced that the crisis can be resolved at the negotiating table,” Erdogan said.
