Telecom operators and Internet service providers have been given a one-year grace period to meet the requirements, according to which they must increase the volume of traffic storage annually. According to the press service of the government on Friday, such a decree was signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. Mikhail Mishustin.
The regulation on the storage of user traffic by telecom operators and ISPs, including forwarded text messages, images, video and audio, came into force in 2018. It was assumed that over the next 5 years, companies will increase the volume of information storage by 15% annually.
“The decree, which was signed by Mikhail Mishustin, amends the current rules. It suspends for one year the requirement to increase the storage capacity of traffic annually,” the Cabinet of Ministers explained.
