Gore Highway: Woman, child killed in truck collision near Toowoomba

Forensic crash detectives are investigating, and asking anyone with dashcam footage to contact police.

A woman and child have died after their car collided with a truck west of Brisbane on Thursday.

At 7.20am, police were called to the Gore Highway at Captains Mountain near Toowoomba, where the Toyota SUV and the heavy vehicle had crashed.

A 35-year-old woman and a young child were declared deceased at the scene.

The 39-year-old driver and two other children were transported to Toowoomba Hospital and treated for serious injuries.

Queensland Police said the 38-year-old truck driver was not seriously injured.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating, with police pleading for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, has dashcam vision or further information is urged to contact police.

It brings the Queensland road toll to 149 lives lost, up from 135 at the same time last year.
