Al-Arabiya channel broadcast a documentary film about the attempts and efforts made to save the Dead Sea, the most important of which is the project to draw water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea after its desalination.
The Dead Sea is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth. It is unique in many ways, the most important of which are its chemistry, evolution, and composition.
The film also documents the importance and status of the Dead Sea since ancient times, and then reveals the real danger that threatens its survival.
Now, this privileged sea is receding at an alarming speed, and as the water level drops, the beach is now flooded with sewers. More than 6,000 sinkholes are scattered on the shores of the Dead Sea, like craters on the surface of the moon.
The film also investigates the causes of the steadily declining level of the Dead Sea, amounting to more than 100 feet since 1976. And how the residents of Palestine and Jordan have been greatly affected, as access to water is a basic human right.
Will the desalination project and the extraction of water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea succeed, and what are the environmental warnings? Can the Dead Sea be saved? This is what the program will do.
