Employees of the FSB and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation stopped illegal production of tobacco products in the Yaroslavl region and seized more than 133 thousand packs of counterfeit cigarettes and over 14 tons of tobacco. This was reported to TASS on Monday at the Public Relations Center (DSP) of the FSB of Russia.
“The Federal Security Service, together with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, with the support of the Russian Guard, suppressed the illegal activities of an organized criminal group specializing in the illegal production and sale of unmarked tobacco products on an especially large scale,” the FSB said. The secret service noted that two lines for the production of tobacco products and two large warehouses were found on the territory of the Pereslavsky district of the Yaroslavl region. “More than 133 thousand packs of cigarettes, tobacco weighing over 14 tons, as well as financial documentation confirming shadow economic activity were seized. The criminal activity was carried out by an organized group formed according to the ethnic principle with the involvement of migrants from the countries of Central Asia. As reported to TASS in the press service of the UK, counterfeit cigarettes were sold on the territory of the Moscow region, which “created a real threat to the health of citizens.”
