BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15Trend: The impressions of the World Aerobic Gymnastics Competition in Baku are wonderful, a participant of the tournament, Ukrainian athlete David Matvienko, told Trend on Saturday.
“The competition hall of the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku is very large, there is also a lot of space for training and preparation before the main performance. Before the competition, we had a hard and fruitful training session, ”the gymnast said.
The Ukrainian athlete noted that, like all athletes, he dreams of reaching heights in sports.
“I will work hard, train a lot to achieve all my goals,” he added.
For the first time, the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation holds the World Aerobic Gymnastics Competition among age groups. The ninth competition will be held on May 21-23 at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. 202 athletes from 18 countries participate in them.
Gymnasts in the age categories 12-14 and 15-17 years old compete for the championship during the competition. Athletes perform in both age categories in an individual program, in mixed pairs, trios and groups. In addition, gymnasts in the 15-17 age group will compete in the aerodance program.
Azerbaijan is represented by Leyla Abdullazade, Arzu Agaeva, Leyla Ahmadova, Sara Alikhanly, Ailin Aliyeva, Rovshan Bagirzade, Leyla Bezhanova, Dilara Gurbanova, Fidan Ibragimova, Alia Kazimova, Aliya Ismailova.
The competitions are held in accordance with the quarantine measures in force in Azerbaijan in connection with the pandemic, taking into account the sanitary and epidemiological requirements and without spectators.
