In Novotroitsk, the police identified the vandals who set fire to wreaths at the monument to those killed in the Great Patriotic War. The culprits were two boys 5 and 7 years old.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region, the signal that unknown persons had desecrated the monument “Forever Alive” on Sovetskaya Street was received the day before. Police officers who arrived at the scene saw that the wreaths at the obelisk had been destroyed by fire, and the monument itself was covered in soot.
The identities of the young arsonists have been identified. The inspectors for juvenile affairs are conducting an inspection.
The regional prosecutor’s office explained that administrative cases were initiated against the parents of the boys under Art. 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure to fulfill responsibilities for the upbringing of minors).
In addition, the supervisory authority will assess the work of the prevention and education authorities. And in order to develop a sense of patriotism and respect for history in children, prosecutors will conduct a course of thematic lectures and conversations with schoolchildren.
