A man slapped French President Emmanuel Macron during a tour of southeastern France, Tuesday.
The French BMF network published a video showing the moment Macron approached a crowd to salute, before someone attacked him.
After shaking hands with him, the man, who was shouting “Down with the macaroni”, surprised the French president with a slap in the face before the security men intervened.
Macron is continuing a tour in separate regions of France, to inaugurate the second phase of the conquest adopted by his government after reaching an advanced stage of vaccination, according to the local newspaper, Le Dauphin.
A man slapped French President Emmanuel Macron during a tour of southeastern France on Tuesday.
The newspaper said that the security forces and the guard accompanying the president were able to arrest the man, and he is now under investigation at the police station in Tyne-Larmitage.
French presidents are often exposed to such situations, and the French still keep pictures of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy facing insults from one of the participants in an agricultural exhibition.
Even Macron was previously subjected to “heavy irony”, as press headlines put it, by a teenager about two years ago.
Macron responded to the young man who called him “comical” that he was talking to a president and that he should be polite.
