The Israel Defense Forces launched a large-scale operation against militants in the Gaza Strip, which will involve about 80 combat aircraft, reports The Times of Israel, citing a spokesman for the military command Hedi Zilberman.
He explained that the operation, which started in the afternoon, involved, among other things, the latest F-35 aircraft.
The Israeli military, in particular, is planning to strike at the launchers that Hamas militants use to fire rockets at Israel. The Palestinians are believed to have hidden dozens of installations by burying them in the ground.
Zilberman warned that the operation would take a long time. “This is not the type of surgery that can be done in just a day. In this case, it takes more time,” he said.
