‘It’s brought my business to its knees’: Melburnian reveals impact of 180 days in lockdown

Willow Tree Events owner Racha Sleiman says her business has been “brought to its knees” by Melbourne’s lockdowns – now totalling 180 days.

Many businesses are still waiting for money to land in their bank account from the last lockdown, despite being stuck in another lockdown at the moment.

Ms Sleiman told Sky News host Peta Credlin the restrictions have been a “kick in the guts” for businesses trying to start up during the pandemic.

“We’re not in our first, second, third lockdown. We’re in our fifth lockdown and it just feels like this might be the knockout punch that not only disseminates my business but so many other small businesses,” she said.

“They told us it was two weeks to flatten the curve which has turned into 180 days of no other approach.”
