Kiev has misinterpreted the words of US President Joe Biden about the idea of Ukraine joining NATO. The information portal Axios was informed about this by the National Security Council (SNB) of the White House.
It is noted that the American side and the Ukrainian government published contradictory statements following a telephone conversation between the presidents. According to Kiev, Biden “stressed the importance of providing the Ukrainian state with an Action Plan for NATO membership,” writes TASS.
However, the White House denies this. “Ukraine misunderstood the statement and made an amendment,” the SNB told Axios. The revised message from the Ukrainian government now says that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “noted the importance of providing the Ukrainian state with an Action Plan for membership in the alliance.”
Recall that during the telephone conversations held on Monday, Biden and Zelensky discussed the fight against corruption, cooperation in the field of energy security and the fight against COVID-19. Biden also expressed his willingness to host Zelenskiy at the White House after returning from his trip to Europe.
