President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Extraordinary Commission of Turkmenistan to Combat the Spread of Diseases, which discussed issues of ensuring the safety of citizens of the country, as well as identified priority tasks to counter the COVID-19 pandemic, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan today.
Opening the meeting, the leader of the nation noted that in connection with the aggravation of the situation due to coronavirus around the world, it was decided to hold a meeting of the Extraordinary Commission of Turkmenistan to combat the spread of diseases. Today, new mutations of the coronavirus are being detected in various states: in total, over 14 thousand strains have already been registered in the world.
Protection of the health and life of citizens of the country, ensuring their safety are the main goal of state policy, in accordance with which specific measures are being taken, the head of Turkmenistan emphasized.
In this context, it was noted that the domestic health care system is being improved in accordance with the approved State program “Saglyk”, and activities for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases are being modernized on an integrated basis.
A channel for exchange of relevant experience with other countries is constantly open. Turkmenistan maintains close cooperation with the United Nations, its specialized agencies, the World Health Organization, and participates in international forums on this topic.
From the first days of identifying the causative agent of acute pneumonia, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov continued, the Government of Turkmenistan has shown a very responsible and thoughtful approach to countering this dangerous infection.
In order to prevent the import and spread of acute respiratory infection in our country, important decisions have been made, comprehensive measures to prevent this pathogen have been timely implemented: the necessary drugs have been purchased, the population is being vaccinated in stages.
As a result of the colossal work done in a timely manner, it was possible to prevent the introduction of the causative agent of acute pneumonia into the territory of our state, the leader of the nation said, emphasizing that one should not stop there.
Then the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the floor to the Minister of Health and Medical Industry, Chairman of the Extraordinary Commission for Combating the Spread of Diseases N. Amannepesov, who reported on the practical steps being taken to prevent the import and spread of COVID-19 in our country.
Guided by the instructions and initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan, since the beginning of 2020, extensive experience has been accumulated in the prevention of this infectious disease. The activities of the system for three-level prevention have been established.
In order to strengthen measures to prevent the importation and spread of infectious diseases on the territory of our country, on the basis of decisions of the Extraordinary Commission of Turkmenistan to combat the spread of diseases, a number of restrictions have been introduced.
Corresponding work was carried out to increase immunity in the population (create an immune layer) and medical examination. Vaccination against seasonal colds has been carried out, and vaccination against COVID-19 is currently ongoing.
Given the instability of the epidemiological situation in the world and the identification of various strains of the virus, measures to control citizens arriving from foreign countries have been strengthened. In particular, they are being monitored in quarantine centers.
As a result of the enormous attention paid by the leader of the nation to the health protection of Turkmen citizens, the prevention and control of diseases, healthcare institutions are fully provided with the necessary reagents to determine infectious diseases, consumables, diagnostic and disinfecting agents, special protective equipment, and their reserve fund has been created.
