MotoGP: Miguel Oliveira tests new bike one day after victory in Barcelona

The Portuguese rider dedicated himself to he started the morning from work to test new components on his KTM and stressed that the objective of this Monday

“was not to make fast laps”, but to experiment “some things that have been tested to have a comparison term” and “give the answer to the factory to decide the way forward in the rest of the year”.


“Most of the things had already been tested by Dani Pedrosa” revealed the Portuguese pilot explaining in a virtual press conference followed by Lusa agency that, the day after the race, “the level of ad erence is not very high”, but that, even so,

“was a productive test”.

“When a swinging arm or frame arrives, it’s hard to tell the difference. In the afternoon we focused on what we could achieve with this package. On a Monday it’s hard to see what we can improve because the grip conditions are different. We won in some areas and lost in others”, he said.


The MotoGP website added that the Portuguese and his teammate, Brad Binder, tested the bike already seen on the Qatar with Pedrosa where, in addition to the different swinging arm and frame, there are also new exhaust and rear fairing.

In the afternoon, the two pilots returned to KTM with that raced on Sunday and Miguel Oliveira ended the day with a time of 1’40.036. About one second off Saturday’s qualifying, Falcão considered it to have been “acceptably fast” running at the level of the times performed in free practice.


The Portuguese driver set the ninth fastest time of the day of testing that followed the victory at the Catalunya GP, 0.636s behind the fastest: Maverick Viñales (Yamaha).
