As of this Tuesday (8), cyclists will be able to travel across the JK Bridge pedaling, that is, without the need to get off the bike. That’s because the Federal District’s Traffic Department (Detran-DF) changed the signage that regulates the circulation of bicycles and pedestrians on the side of the bridge.
The measure came to meet the old demand of cyclists in the DF, who often travel through the region. Before, the signs determined that they should get off the bike to make the 1km crossing alongside pedestrians, but now, the road will be shared.
The general director of Detran, Zélio Maia, highlights the importance of peaceful coexistence between all modes of transportation, and recalls the basic principle of traffic legislation: “the biggest protects the smallest, and everyone takes care of pedestrian safety.”
