French football club Paris Saint-Germain officially presented today, Thursday, its new Dutch player, Georginio Wijnaldum, coming from the Liverpool team, in a free transfer deal after the expiration of his contract with the “Reds”.
Paris Saint-Germain signed Wijnaldum for three seasons until 2024, and the Dutchman will wear the number 18 shirt.
In an interview with the official channel of the Parisian club, Wijnaldum praised the project of the Paris Saint-Germain team, describing it as “beautiful”, which prompted him to move to the “Parc des Princes” instead of “Camp Nou”, where the Barcelona team desperately wanted to include the Dutch player.
Wijnaldum left Liverpool’s stronghold of Anfield after a five-year period, during which he won the Champions League, the English Premier League, the Club World Cup and the European Super Cup.
The Dutch player added: “The whole club made me feel that they really wanted me, and this played a big role in my decision.”
Wijnaldum pointed out that “Winning titles is very important, and this is what we all want to achieve as players, and Paris wants to win, it is a club that has progressed a lot over the years, and played in the Champions League final, and also reached the last four last season.”
And Paris Saint-Germain concluded three free deals this season, in addition to the inclusion of Georginio Wijnaldum (30 years), Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, from Real Madrid, and Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, from Milan, in addition to buying Moroccan star Ashraf Hakimi, From Inter Milan for about 70 million euros.
