Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh ‘got into a screaming match’ on set of Don’t Worry Darling

Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh allegedly got into a ‘screaming match’ with one another while filming Don’t Worry Darling, as the director would often disappear with her boyfriend Harry Styles, a report claims.

Despite Wilde, 38, previously denying any animosity between herself and Pugh, 26, a new bombshell report is suggesting otherwise, with sources claiming to Vulture that tensions between the two stars reached a fever pitch on set.

‘Olivia and Harry would just disappear,’ an insider claimed to the outlet.

The Booksmart director and Styles, 28, were first romantically linked in January 2021, after they got close on set of Don’t Worry Darling in September 2020.

Denial: Olivia Wilde has previously dismissed claims of any feud between herself and Florence, despite saying she needed a 'wake up call' in a leaked video

According to an unnamed insider on the movie, Pugh and Wilde came to blows over Wild’s ‘frequent, unexplained absences,’ on set which resulted in a ‘screaming match’ between the two women.

The apparent feud came to light last month when Wilde referred to Pugh as ‘Miss Flo’ and said she needed a ‘wake-up call’ during the rehearsal period of the movie, in a video to actor Shia LaBeouf that was leaked.

The report even claims that the spat between the pair got so bad, it was taken to the to the highest-ranking Warner Bros. executive at the time – Toby Emmerich – who had to play peacemaker.

Emmerich is said to have facilitated a ‘long negotiation process’ to make sure that Pugh would stick with the project after filming wrapped and ensure she would be around to promote it.

However, as has previously been reported, Pugh significantly pulled back on her promotional duties for the film, appearing at the Venice premiere but did little else – and recently skipped out on the New York premiere, an odd move for a lead star.

Wilde also failed to dispel the drama in Venice, as it appeared handlers went to great lengths to keep both actresses apart during the photo-call for the event.

On Friday, Pugh shared a heartfelt caption about working on the film – and while she did a share a photo of herself with Wilde in a carousel of images – she made no mention of her director in the caption.

Strange: Few could argue how odd it is for the lead star of a movie to go out of their way not to mention their director (Florence did include this picture of Olivia amid a number of other snaps)

‘It’s here.. and ready to be seen,’ Pugh began. ‘Don’t Worry  Darling is in cinemas! We met so many talented people, visited some insane locations, worked hard in the desert dust and looked good whilst doing so.

She then thanked a few crew members, but still no mention of Wilde.

Pugh continued: ‘Thank you to all those who have bought tickets and those who have already seen it – whenever I watch massive impressive movie moments on massive screens I always remind myself that there is a boom just inches from the frame I’m watching. Or marks on the floor just below the actors waists.’

‘It’s crazy to think that each set up and scene takes a large portion of a day to execute, and on this one.. there was a lot to execute! Explosions, car chases, cocktail balancing, underwater sequences, running, drinking, more running.. This film was such an epic story on such a large scale to shoot, all while during peak Covid times.

She concluded the post: ‘For that I will always be grateful. To all of you who helped make this, your dedication and love was seen daily – thank you. With that, here are some pics I took from this time. More to come! #dontworrydarling.’

Meanwhile, the latest slice of drama comes after Harry Styles’ own mother hit out at the ‘vitriolic comments’ surrounding the movie as she praised her son and his girlfriend.

Anne Twist posted a glowing review of the psychological thriller, in which Harry stars alongside Florence Pugh, despite the fact it has so far only garnered a 36 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Anne shared a series of snaps at the theatre as she penned: ‘First time in the French cinema .. first day showing .. Don’t Worry Darling’ you were excellent!

‘Really enjoyed from start to finish. Well done @oliviawilde and team for drawing us in, well done baby @harrystyles for being a fabulous Jack. Very proud as usual.’

Interestingly, she did not mention leading lady Florence in the post.

Anne did, however, take to her Stories to share how ‘saddened’ she is to see so much negativity hurled towards the movie and its cast, which also includes Gemma Chan and Chris Pine.

She wrote: ‘If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.

‘I’m astounded and saddened by the vitriolic comments on here to be honest. I enjoyed a film. If it’s not your cup of tea don’t go…’

She concluded: ‘If you don’t like me .. please don’t follow me. Simple.’

Meanwhile, Olivia addressed the pair’s widely-rumored falling out on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, insisting she has ‘nothing but respect’ for Florence despite being plagued by claims to the contrary.

She gushed about Florence’s performance in the controversial movie, and suggested being questioned about the feud is sexist because it’s not something her ‘male director colleagues are answering.’
