Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said that Israel did not learn from its mistakes and did not draw lessons and lessons from its failed experiences, stressing that evacuating the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem from their homes is a war crime.
Al-Maliki added, in his speech before the emergency session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers, that “Jerusalem calls you and tightens your hands, and your aid says, Jerusalem always oversees, and its sons, who are stationed, supervise the sacrifice in the name of Arabs and Muslims, in protecting Al-Aqsa, the first of the two qiblahs and the second of the two mosques, And the third of the Two Holy Mosques, Blessed are those Almoravids who outline the most noble features of noble confrontation and self-sacrifice in order to preserve Jerusalem and its sanctity, its Arabness, its Islamism, and its two Christianities.
He affirmed: “Blessed are those innocent martyrs who fell on the Night of Power in the blessed month of Ramadan, in Gaza and Lod, and who fell today, as their number reached 26 martyrs, in the cohesion of the children of this one people.”
He continued: “Israel believed that its decision to annex East Jerusalem and consider it as part of united Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the State of Israel, will force the Palestinians to relinquish their Jerusalem and their capital. And that its racist policy against Al-Quds people, its repressive measures and its fascist crimes, will force Al-Quds people to surrender and leave their city, their sanctities, and their sanctities.
“Israel also believed that pumping money, seizing homes, expelling and displacing its residents, and creating outposts in the heart of Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem will do the job and guarantee the city’s Jewishness forever.” And that Trump’s free gift by recognizing Jerusalem as the unified and eternal capital of the State of Israel will change something and settle the matter of Jerusalem and its future permanently.
He said that it is clear that the occupying power has not learned from its mistakes, nor has it learned from its failed experiences. We see it yesterday as we saw it every time it returns to occupy Jerusalem again, when it discovers that it has not succeeded in occupying it, has not succeeded in Judaizing it, has not succeeded in expelling the honorable Jerusalemites stationed in it, and Trump’s gift only served them new suffering with Jerusalemites who gave their lives to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa. When they discover all of this, their reaction will be violent, criminal, spiteful, racist, hateful, fascist. They pour all this failure and all this anger on everyone who passes in front of them or avoids them, and this is what they have done during the past days and weeks.
He explained that, “Israel’s feeling that it is above accountability or accountability, despite all the crimes it commits against innocent Palestinians has encouraged it to venture to close the Jerusalem file completely.” On the one hand, the American administration is willing to provide Israel with the right to self-defense whenever it needs to, while remaining silent in the face of the fall of innocent martyrs of our people, or the war crimes committed by Israel, the occupying power against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy city of Jerusalem.
He added: “The mouths are silent in many countries of the world for fear of calling it anti-Semitism, while some countries are racing to win their affection and normalize with them. Sufficient reasons for Israel to feel invincible, and for Israel to commit its crimes against the Palestinians, without caring about any voices and calls to stop the aggression.
And he added: “The attack on the blessed Al-Aqsa is not the first and it will not be the last, and attacking it in this way during the holy month of Ramadan is a message to all Arabs and Muslims, that you are unable to protect it, and that the occupation state continues to Judaize it just as it did with the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron. The result there will inevitably be the Temple Mount, an alternative to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, if we do not act now with high responsibility to stop these crimes.
The Palestinian Foreign Minister affirmed that evicting Sheikh Jarrah residents from their homes is a war crime, adding, “But how many war crimes have Israel committed since its establishment and until now, and that it has not been held accountable for it?”
