The Federal Police is carrying out this Tuesday (8) an operation that targets suspects of cyber attacks on the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
Five search and seizure warrants and three temporary arrest warrants are being served in the cities of Itumbiara (GO), Bragança Paulista (SP), Belém do São Francisco, Jaboatão dos Guararapes and Olinda, three municipalities in Pernambuco.
The action was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Morares. The arrest warrants take place in cities in Pernambuco.
In early May, the court’s technology department identified signs of the hacker attack. The court’s website has been taken down. Triggered, the PF identified the addresses from which the attacks departed and the people responsible for the invasion.
With the legal measures, the intention is to identify other participants in the acts performed. Those investigated will be liable for the crimes of electronic device invasion and criminal association, with penalties that, added together, can reach five years in prison.
According to the police, the operation was named Leet, a term used in the hacker world to identify a “formidable feat”.
