pole for Zarco in Great Britain, Quartararo on second row

The French driver smashed the Silverstone circuit record to afford the right to start ahead this Sunday.

Johann Zarco continues to shine on the handlebars of his Ducati-Pramac. The 32-year-old driver took pole position in the British Grand Prix this Saturday, where he also set a new Silverstone circuit record. Third in the world championship (best Ducati rider on the grid), the Frenchman signed his eighth career pole, he who is still chasing after a first success in the premier category.

This Sunday, the double Moto2 world champion (2015, 2016) will start in front of the Aprilia of the Spaniard Maverick Vinales and by another Ducati, factory this time, that of the Australian Jack Miller (Ducati).

The other Frenchman in the paddock, world champion Fabio Quartararo, will start fourth in a race where he will have to respect a “long lap” penalty. Obviously disappointed with his performance at the end of the session, the world championship leader could lose precious points at the end of this twelfth round of the championship. His runner-up in the championship, Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia), victim of a very violent fall a few hours earlier, will also start in the second row, in sixth place.
