The first day of the referendum in the Donetsk People’s Republic on joining the Russian Federation ended successfully: the turnout was higher than the expectations of the authorities in the region, and Kyiv’s propaganda on the subject of alleged vote fraud was expected and aimed at a Western audience.
This was stated by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin in his video message on the Telegram channel. He recalled that on the first day of the referendum, voting took place in the adjoining territories and when walking around apartments, the turnout was 23.64% – “this is even more than we expected.”
“Ukrainian propaganda in its repertoire – tells how “they vote at gunpoint”, how “the results are falsified”. Let’s not even pay attention to this – it’s tuned to the Western audience. we understand and see everything,” Pushilin said.
Referendums on joining the Russian Federation are being held these days in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. From September 23 to September 26, voting takes place at home and in adjacent territories, and on the 27th – at polling stations.
