A teenager has been charged with murder over the death of Queensland woman Rene Latimore.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of 31-year-old Queensland woman Rene Latimore.
The mother-of-one vanished from a rural property in Koumala, near Mackay, on August 18.
About 2.30pm on August 29, her body was found during a search and subsequent forensic tests confirmed her identity.
A homicide investigation dubbed Operation Amunet was launched and involved several appeals for public assistance.
Queensland Police revealed on Friday that the teenage boy had faced court and remained in custody.
Detective Acting Inspector Jack Savage said the “very complex” investigation was ongoing and did not rule out more arrests.
“We have to consider all the other pieces of information that come in,” he told reporters.
“If that takes us to another avenue of investigation we will go down this path.
“We never keep a closed mind or put the blinkers on. The investigation is ongoing.”
The detective would not say whether the teenager was known to Ms Latimore or police.
He said Ms Latimore’s family were experiencing sadness and some closure with the update to the case.
