Queensland warns risk of New South Wales COVID spread too high

Queensland health officials have warned the risk of a COVID spread from New South Wales is too high amid its border closure to the state.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young says there is caution over the number of cases which have come out of Sydney’s restricted local government areas.

“We are also starting to see cases come out of that area while infectious into other parts of the state such as Coffs Harbour, such as down in the South Coast,” Dr Young said.

“It is really starting to escalate.”
