Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford gave his mother the rank of Member of the British Empire, which he received today, Tuesday, in honor of him for helping children.

After his honoring ceremony at Windsor Castle, Rashford said he is dedicating the rank of Member of the British Empire to his mother, Melanie, who raised him and his four brothers.

Rashford launched a major campaign last year to persuade the government to provide free meals to vulnerable youngsters in England during school holidays during the Corona virus pandemic, which forced Prime Minister Boris Johnson to reverse his decision in this regard.

The player added: “It seems that many things are happening, but to put things simply, I try to give the children things that I did not have when I was young. If these things were available to me I would be better than I am now and I would have had many options in my life”.

He continued, “I only give them the opportunity, and I think they deserve the opportunity. What does a child not deserve? For me it is a punishment for them not to get things like meals or their needs for books.”

“If we can stand together to make such small changes, they are small but big changes once we see the results, I see a generation coming after me that will be very special. They need some direction and direction, and what I do gives them that.”
