As part of the annual alumni holiday “Scarlet Sails”, the organizers plan to show the reconstruction of the Battle on the Ice. This was announced on Saturday, May 22, by the vice-governor of St. Petersburg Boris Piotrovsky.
“Almost all our events are in one way or another connected with the 800th anniversary of Alexander Nevsky, which is celebrated in September. This will also be one of the main topics that we touch upon while preparing the “Scarlet Sails” celebration. We assume that we will have a reconstruction of the Battle on the Ice in the water area of the Neva. All details will be announced a little later, “ – he told REN TV.
According to Piotrovsky, the graduates’ holiday is scheduled for June 25, the event will be held in full-time format. The event, according to tradition, will consist of two parts, the first will take place on Palace Square, and the second in the water area of the Neva. It is assumed that the Palace Square will be half full on the day of the event, the vice-governor added.
On May 20, the final stage of the casting for participation in the alumni festival “Scarlet Sails” started in St. Petersburg. Thus, the best youth creative teams and performers will be selected.
A day earlier, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko supported the tradition of holding the alumni holiday “Scarlet Sails”. According to her, the organizers have proven that even such challenges as a pandemic are not able to force those who have been doing a colorful show for many years in a row to turn away from the chosen path.
The fact that the “Scarlet Sails” holiday will take place in full-time format this year was announced on May 18 by the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov. Shortly before that, the vice-governor of St. Petersburg, Boris Piotrovsky, said that the event would be divided into two parts: in the first, graduates will be able to attend a concert that will take place on Palace Square, and in the second they will see a performance in the water area of the Neva with scarlet sails.

Scarlet Sails is an event dedicated to school graduates. This is the only Russian holiday included in the register of world event tourism. For the first time the holiday took place on June 27, 1968 in St. Petersburg.
