Russian David Avanesyan defeated Briton Josh Kelly and defended the European welterweight title.
The 12-round duel took place on February 20 at Wembley Arena in London. Avanesyan won by technical knockout in the sixth round.
At the same time, at the beginning of the fight, the British athlete had a dissection on the back of his head after he hit the opponent’s elbow, and in the fourth round, Kelly had another bleeding injury near his right eye. After that, in the sixth round, the Russian twice knocked down the Briton.
According to TASS, 32-year-old Avanesyan defended the belt of the European champion for the third time, which he first won in March 2019.
Now the Russian has 27 victories, including 15 by knockout, three defeats and one draw. 26-year-old Kelly suffered his first defeat in the professional ring, he has 10 wins, six of them by knockout, and one draw.
On February 21, the main duel of the REN TV Fight Club tournament between professional boxers Fyodor Chudinov and Isaac Chilemba ended in a draw.
