Russia’s Permanent Representative said that the EU ignored proposals to participate in the SPIEF

Representatives of the European Union ignored invitations to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which was held from 2 to 5 June. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.

“It was an opportunity for the European Union, too, here, as they say, to show itself and use it as a springboard to some kind of impetus,” the Izvestia newspaper quotes him as saying.

According to him, more than a dozen invitations were sent to them personally on behalf of the orchestrate: “That’s just Mr. (EU Ambassador to Russia Markus) Ederer, but his position is supposed to be the only practically representative of the European Union at the forum.”
