Spanish League may have 22 players in Copa America 2021

There were no less than 13 Latin American nations with at least one player in Spain’s top division in the 2020/2021 season. This is practically the entire region, which has 80 players in LaLiga Santander. And of course some of them would be present at the Copa America 2021, which will be played in Brazil between June 13th and July 9th.

One of the stars that shines the most in LaLiga is, without a doubt, Lionel Messi. The Argentine remained at Barcelona for the last season and did well by winning once again the Pichichi award, for top scorer in the competition. In addition, he has taken another young South American talent under his wing, as 21-year-old Uruguayan central defender Ronald Araújo has been promoted to the starting lineup at Barça and will also be in the Copa América.

Uruguay, by the way, is one of the teams that are most represented in the Spanish Championship. And it’s impossible to talk about Celeste and not mention the current champion Atletico Madrid. It was in the last European summer that the Mattresses they hired Luis Suárez in one of the biggest transfers of the window. Over there, The gunman reunited with old acquaintances of the national team, such as defender José María Giménez and midfielder Lucas Torreira. Remembering, of course, the forward Maxi Gómez, who defends Valencia.

Still in the capital, there is another very promising Uruguayan athlete, who does well in the Real shirt. This is Fede Valverde, loved by then-coach Zidane and who was one of the stars of LaLiga last season. In this Copa America, the player will have as opponents Vinícius Júnior, who has grown a lot in productivity in recent months in the Spanish capital; Éder Militão, defender who really intensified his presence on the field during his second season with The whites; and Casemiro, who needs no introduction and has even been captain of the Brazilian team.

Brazil will not only be represented by Real Madrid players. In the aforementioned Barcelona, right-back Emerson Royal was called up, who had a great season for Real Betis – the same club as Claudio Bravo, called by the Chile national team, soon after returning to LaLiga. And in the current champion Atlético, Brazilians Renan Lodi and Felipe were also selected – as well as Argentinean Ángel Correa, who has been with the Madrid club since 2014.

Finally, Espanyol will still be represented by Peruvian midfielder Renato Tapia, who signed last summer with Celta de Vigo, coming from Feyenoord; and Ecuadorian left-back Pervis Estupiñán, recent Europa League champion with Villarreal.
