KHARTOUM: Sudan Minister of Finance Jibril Ibrahim said the country will continue its policy of economic liberalization until recovery has been achieved, state news agency Suna reported.
Sudan’s government said on Wednesday it will cancel subsidies on fuel and gasoline, as part of what it called a policy of economic reform, pushing fuel prices up by 90 percent and diesel prices by 128 percent.
“The economy will need a long time to recover, we will continue on this path despite conservatism about lifting subsidies on gas and wheat – a failed and unfair policy where citizens are not equal,” he said.
The new policies will affect the citizens a lot but they are essential, he said.
