After Cruz’s excuses for the impromptu trip failed to hold up under the tiniest amount of scrutiny, and mutual aid networks championed by others, including his one-time election opponent Beto O’Rourke and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, raised several million dollars, the senator rose to the occasion and was photographed talking to someone and putting two cases of water into two different cars.
