Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The coalition in Yemen denied carrying out military operations against Yemeni cities during the last period, during explosions that rocked the headquarters of the First Armored Division in the capital, Sanaa, on Thursday.
The coalition said, in a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), that “the reports that we targeted the First Armored Division in Sana’a are incorrect and we have not carried out any military operations in the vicinity of Sanaa or any other city during the last period.”
The coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, added that its decision “not to carry out any operation aimed at preparing the political atmosphere for the peaceful path in Yemen.”
The explosions were heard at the headquarters of the First Armored Division in Sanaa, earlier Thursday. Videos showed thick clouds of smoke rising from the headquarters.
The Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, in September 2014 in Yemen, while the Yemeni government is based in Aden. The country is experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations, as a result of the war that has been going on since March 2015.
