North Korea said it had conducted the first test launch of the new Hwaseong-8 hypersonic missile. This was reported by Yonhap agency, Trend reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
“The DPRK National Defense Academy conducted a test launch of a newly developed Hwaseong-8 hypersonic missile in Jagang province,” the statement said.
The publication notes that defense scientists have confirmed “the maneuverability and safety of the missile in the active compartment, as well as the controlled maneuverability and characteristics of the gliding flight of an isolated hypersonic gliding combat unit.”
The test launch was attended by the member of the Politburo Presidium of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) Park Chung Chong and leading officials in the defense science sector.
