The number of stationary and mobile photo-video fixation complexes (PVF) in Russia has increased by 300% over ten years, thanks to them, 893% more violations of traffic rules were stopped. This follows from the information and analytical review of the Scientific Center for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, which is at the disposal of TASS.
“With an increase in the number of FVF complexes by 300% since 2011, there has been an increase in the number of administrative offenses suppressed with their use by 893%. The total number of road accidents over the same period decreased by 33.3%, and the number of deaths in road accidents – by 42.2%, ”the review says.
In total, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2021, 20,390 automatic photo and video recording complexes were used to control traffic, of which 17,198 were stationary and 3,192 were mobile. “The majority (88%) of offenses recorded by the traffic police departments were detected during the operation of photo and video recording complexes,” the document says.
At the same time, it is emphasized that traffic control using FVF complexes does not guarantee the complete elimination of accidents in the controlled sections of the road network. So, last year, 3,130 accidents were registered at the places of operation of photo and video recording complexes, which is 8% more than a year earlier. In these accidents, 290 people died and more than 4 thousand people were injured (an increase of 2% and 6.4%).
