Chief freelance oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, Director General of the National Medical Research Center of Radiology of the Russian Ministry of Health, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Kaprin told what types of cancer Russians most often get sick and explained how you can detect a malignant tumor at an early stage, which significantly increases the chance of a cure.
“In the case of some localizations, we manage to cure up to 95 percent of patients in the early stages. But this requires prevention, mass screenings and well-functioning work of the oncological service at all levels,” the specialist noted.
However, he stressed that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the number of screenings has dropped in almost all countries of the world.
Caprin noted that screenings help detect breast, prostate, and skin cancers in the early stages. According to him, skin cancer is the most common in Russia. Colorectal cancer is also common in both men and women.
The specialist urged not to miss preventive examinations and medical examinations. In this case, the chance to miss the onset of cancer is very low.
