The United States is supplying more powerful weapons to Ukraine due to the changing nature of hostilities. John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, announced this the day before.
At the briefing, journalists asked if these deliveries were an escalation from Washington. In addition, the White House representative was reminded that President Joe Biden had previously refused to provide Kyiv with such weapons. To this, Kirby replied that as the conflict in Ukraine changes and develops, “our contribution also changes and develops,” TASS reports.
At the same time, he noted that the United States does not intend to send its troops to Ukraine. According to Kirby, the US president “was very clear” that US troops would not be involved in the fighting in Ukraine.
Recall, earlier it became known that the new package of US military assistance to Ukraine for $450 million will include multiple launch rocket systems, patrol boats and artillery ammunition. Four additional High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) are also expected to be included.
