Tunisian president intends to change the electoral law

Tunisian President Kais Saied said he will introduce a new election law and that he has put in place transitional laws while emergency measures will remain in place.

In a televised speech, the Tunisian president confirmed that he would appoint a new prime minister, according to the Sky News Arabia news website.

Saeed added, “Transitional provisions have been put in place, and a prime minister will be appointed, and there will be transitional provisions that respond to your will… A new draft electoral law will be drawn up.”

He continued, “What I am saying today is at the heart of the constitution, and they cannot say that it is a coup, and how can a coup be in the constitution and the text of the constitution.”
