A Ukrainian activist brought a Russian flag during a meeting of the Slavic City Council, 24 Channel reported this on Monday, April 12.
According to the TV channel, Vasily Khomenko, a “pro-Ukrainian” public figure, also brought a Ukrainian flag to the session hall, next to which he placed a Russian one. After such actions by the activist, the mayor of the city, the representative of the “Opposition bloc” Vadim Lyakh called a police officer. He, in turn, brought out the banner.
It is noted that the reasons for the incident are not known. At the same time, Khomenko himself tried to speak to the assembled deputies, he began to talk about the hostilities in the territory of Donbass, which began 7 years ago. Lyakh did not let him finish his speech.
Since 2014, Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup. In the current situation, Ukraine blames Russia, while Moscow has repeatedly indicated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict and called on Kiev for a settlement and direct negotiations with the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
On April 13, Ukraine complained about the reluctance of Russian-speaking citizens to fight with the Russian Federation. According to the mayor of the Ukrainian city of Trostyanets Yuri Bova, citizens need to be explained why they should shed blood.
